Bible Classes
The Carbondale congregation offers Bible classes from Nursery through Adult. This includes Nursery, Toddlers, Pre-school, Primary, Middle School, High School, and Adult classes.
Adult classes include classes for men, women and combined. A variety of books of the Bible, topical studies, and instructional classes are taught.
Bible Hour is taught during Sunday evening worship, except during the summer, for children ages 3 - 10 years. This includes singing, prayer, puppet skits, hands-on application, and learning challenges.
Vacation Bible School
Vacation Bible School is a fun and instructional event not only for our youth but for our adults, too. It ususally runs Sunday through Wednesday evening during one week in June or July. Our teachers work very hard to make sure that this event is special and spiritually building for everyone involved.
Teacher Coordinator
A Teacher Coordinator is an important position. This is a position that takes a self-willed person with the intent of working for the Lord in providing the help needed for the education of the church. This position will include responsibilities listed below:
- The Teacher Coordinator will be responsible for recruiting the qualified teachers (sound in the Word of God) for the classes needed. This will be done in a good timely manner. (One quarter in advance is the amount of time required.)
- The Teacher Coordinator is responsible for recruiting a standby/ fill-in teacher when necessary. Try to be aware of teacher schedules and give substitutes notice as early as possible.
- The Teacher Coordinator will provide names of teachers and the curriculum that is to be taught, to the Education Minister as soon as information is acquired.
- The Teacher Coordinator will serve as a liaison between teachers and the Education Minister.
- The Teacher Coordinator will maintain continuity in the curriculum that is to be taught in the class assigned to the teachers in grades 6th and under. (Seek further help from Education Minister if needed.)
- The Teacher Coordinator is responsible for communicating any extra supply needs not provided by our Supply Room. (If you need further assistance in a certain area, speak to Kristina Butts or David Rodriguez.)
- The Teacher Coordinator is responsible for teacher orientation. Orientation may include status and progress reports for the class or individual students or any information that may be pertaining to the class education.
- The Teacher Coordinator is NOT responsible for teaching but to find teachers. If you have trouble finding qualified & willing teachers for a class please see before filling this spot yourself.
This is not a position that requires specific skills. Please review the above responsibilities to see if you are both willing and capable of completing ALL of the required duties. There are many places that you can help. Being a Teacher Coordinator is an awesome responsibility, but most of all it is an OPPORTUNITY to work for God in His church. If you feel that you will be unable to fulfill the role of coordinator, there are other areas where you may better be able to serve.
Teacher
- The teacher is responsible for preparation and delivery of the lesson.
- The teacher should obtain all materials necessary for the lesson well in advance. The teacher has everything ready ten minutes before the first student arrives. This would mean that you have to be at the building 10-15 minutes before class starts.
- The teacher must study all materials necessary adequately in preparation of the lesson.
- The teacher should greet the students at the door as they enter in. This will help the student understand the importance of getting to Bible class on time. They will also see that you care for them in greeting them at the door.
- The teacher must take a personal interest in having a good relationship with each student. Teachers should try to visit their students individually or unite them in fellowship at least once a quarter or length of course.
- The teacher is responsible for room arrangements. Bulletins and class environment should be of that of the same level as the class in it.
- The teacher will make every effort to be at each class session. This is a commitment you have made. We understand there may be times when you will not be able to make it.
- The teacher must notify the co-teacher and coordinator, as much in advance as possible when absence is necessary. This gives the co-teacher time to prepare adequately and it gives the coordinator time to look for another teacher to fill in if necessary.
- The teacher is expected to return all materials back to the supply room when finished with supplies. There may be others that want to use that material also.
- The teacher is to show and maintain a good attitude about teaching. Remember that you are teaching God's word. All this is done for a good reason.
- The teacher is to attend all Teacher meetings as scheduled. This will keep the teacher up-to-date with changes or knew events coming up.
- The teacher is to have a good communication with their coordinators. They are to report to them if they have a need in materials or help with other issues.
- The teacher is to use the co-teacher effectively in the classroom. Ask if they can help with the visual aides or make comments in class, etc..
- The teacher will help develop the co-teacher into a good Christian Bible-school Teacher. 2 Timothy 2:2, "The things which you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses, entrust these to faithful men who will be able to teach others also."
Being a teacher is an honored positioned in the church.
